Yes, bleeding gums is a serious problem.

Bleeding from the gums is mainly due to inadequate removal from the teeth at the gum line.This will lead to a condition called gingivitis, or inflamed gums. If plaque is not removed through regular brushing and dental appointment, it will harden into what is known as tartar. Ultimately , this will lead to increased bleeding and a more ad advanced form of gum and jawbone disease known as periodontics.

Gum disease can be painless, so it is important to be aware of any of the following symptoms:
  • Swollen, red, tender or bleeding gums
  • Gums that recede or move away from the tooth
  • Persistent bad breath or bad taste in mouth
  • Loose teeth
  • Visible pus surrounding the teeth and gums
